ʿAqīda is the science of what a Muslim must believe — the roots of the religion (uṣūl al-dīn), as fiqh is what one must do. Its subject is the articles of īmān, its core is tawḥīd, and its method weighs naṣṣ against ʿaql. Unlike fiqh, its khilāf carries orthodoxy stakes: the science maps where Ahl al-Sunna stand and where the firaq depart. Every position below is shown with its proof — nothing is asserted bare.
